Why you no longer have to choose between MX feel and road protection
Hand on heart: We all love the direct feedback of lightweight motocross gloves. You can feel every vibration on the handlebars, have full control over the clutch and brake, and your hands feel completely free. But we all know what happens if you go down on asphalt. A standard MX glove falls apart almost instantly upon contact with the road—and the aftermath for your hands is anything but pleasant.
Driven by this frustration, we developed our Supermoto gloves (the SMG series) at Independent Racing. We wanted a glove that feels like an MX glove but protects you like a genuine racing leather glove.
Finally, a hybrid solution for the road
Whether you are drifting your bike through the city, carving corners on a naked bike, or heading out for a long tour—the SMG is the answer to the question of the “perfect” street riding glove.
Why these gloves are different
Protection without compromise
We use 2mm-thick cowhide in all critical areas. This is the material that truly saves you from nasty abrasions if you slide on asphalt. We’ve also added rugged PU knuckle protectors and an extra palm slider.
The MX feel stays
Thanks to strategically placed stretch zones and flexible polyester fabric, these gloves never feel stiff. You retain full freedom of movement for technical maneuvers and precise braking.
Grip where it counts
The palm is made of 1.5mm matte goat leather, which is soft yet offers incredible grip. This is essential when you need precise feedback from your bike—whether you are pulling a wheelie or leaning deep into a corner.
Tech that works for you
A common problem with many leather gloves is heat. That’s why our knuckle protector doubles as a ventilation system. Fresh air is channeled directly across the back of your hand, keeping your hands at a comfortable “operating temperature” even in summer heat.
The facts at a glance
- Material: A mix of 50% cowhide for protection, 30% goat leather for grip, and 20% polyester for flexibility.
- Design: Clean black with bold branding—fits any bike setup.
- Usage: Optimized as streetbike gloves, but also ideal for naked bikes and sport touring.
The right setup for maximum safety
A good glove is just the beginning, but on the asphalt, the whole package counts. If you take the protection of your hands seriously, you shouldn’t make exceptions for the rest of your gear. In our motorcycle clothing range, we focus purely on the essentials: gloves and leather suits.
If you are looking for ultimate protection that matches your new gloves perfectly, check out our leather suits. Just like with our gloves, we rely on uncompromising quality so you can focus entirely on your riding style.
How to keep your gear in top shape
Leather is a natural product. If your gloves need a refresh after a tough season, you can machine wash them at a maximum of 30°C. Crucially: let them dry slowly at room temperature (please don’t put them on a radiator, or the leather will become brittle!). A little leather conditioner afterward, and they’ll feel like new again.
Conclusion: Developed by riders, for riders
At Independent Racing, we build the gear we were missing ourselves. Protecting your hands should never get in the way of your fun on the bike.
